Over a nine-month period I supported their PR, media relations and corporate communications in their key markets around the world, chiefly in Scotland and the UK. At their London office I:
ACCA recommendations
Stephen is an excellent, proactive and reliable PR adviser to our media and communications team. Stephen produced excellent material, bringing together ACCA insights and research with a political and business awareness to produce rounded, well thought-out material which has been used as feature articles in a number of national publications - including the Times Scotland and the Scotsman. Stephen delivered on-time and to the required standard at all times.
Craig Vickery
Head of ACCA Scotland at ACCA
The copy Stephen produced for our chief executive was always crisp, well-informed and insightful and it resonated strongly with all of our audiences.
Through it, Stephen conveyed an exemplary understanding of the issues that are most relevant and important to our stakeholders and was able to translate these ideas into engaging and powerful narrative.
Helen Perkins
strategic communications adviser to ACCA’s chief executive
Stephen Lynch worked in ACCA’s corporate communications team for six months on an interim basis during 2019. Stephen produced some outstanding work and never failed to deliver media coverage, working with the regional office in Scotland and Scottish media, writing op-eds on behalf of ACCA’s CEO, Helen Brand, and developing a cogent media strategy for the UK.
Stephen works collaboratively and his in-depth knowledge of public affairs was a great asset to us and our internal public affairs team. He is hard working, highly organised, a great writer, and a real pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate in recommending him.
Nadia Manuelli
Global Media Relations Manager, ACCA
Stephen supported ACCA's global PR function, and demonstrated his ability as an excellent all-round communicator. This was demonstrated most notably with high quality op-eds written and subsequently published in national and regional media for senior leadership.
Routinely pitched content and spokespeople to broadcast, print and online media - always seeking an angle to ensure ACCA could be positioned in the news agenda.
He possesses strong knowledge of the political scene in Westminster. His insight proved to be invaluable when developing communications around the general election campaign and beyond. A skilled operator and communicator who possesses sound editorial judgement and delivers work to a very high standard.
Maurice Richmond
Global PR Officer
Stephen joined ACCA’s Corporate Comms function in April 2019, working two days a week to cover while a colleague studied for her MA.
A specific focus for his work was securing media coverage in Scotland, writing articles and news releases that would help with ACCA’s reputation building in the country.
He worked closely with the Head of Scotland, Craig Vickery, listening to what was needed, while also offering communications and PR advice, and making suggestions. Stephen put a plan in place that was thought through with clarity. Importantly, this plan has been achieved, with tangible results.
While having a plan in place, Stephen was also adept at sourcing and finding opportunities for ACCA.That’s because Stephen is proactive and aims high, and he’s also willing to change tack if needs be, keen to find a solution to make things work.
Stephen is a talented and confident communicator, a team player who’s more than willing to pick up extra tasks when needed. In a comms environment that’s an important attribute, someone who’s willing to ask if help is needed and to pick up the slack, while also being able to lead on their own workload and projects.
